Right now I have 3 kids in preschool and a baby that stays home with me. Life can get simply crazy if we don't have a predictable plan for each day. I haven't always been a shedule person, but after 4 kids I have realized that having a set routine is wise. It doesn’t mean that you never ever deviate from that schedule, but it does help to maintain a somewhat basic routine each day. Kids feel safer and more secure when their lives are predictable and they know (generally) what is coming next.
Here is a sample schedule if you have a preschooler(s) and a baby:
7:00am // Everybody up and out of bed
7:05am // Baby gets a bottle
7:15am // Breakfast
7:30am // Everyone gets dressed/Play time
8:00am // Hair done/teeth brushed
8:10am // Load up in the van
9:00am // Preschool drop off
9:30am // Baby takes First nap
11:30am // Baby wakes up and gets a bottle
2:00pm // Pick up preschoolers
2:30pm // Preschoolers eat snack and watch something/Baby takes Second nap
3:15pm // Outside play time
3:30pm // Baby wakes up and gets a bottle
4:00pm // Creative Play time (coloring, play dough, puzzles, etc)

4:45pm // Clean up time
5:30pm // Dinner
6:00pm // Clean up/Bath time
